The Birthday Fairy came to surprise Sawyer the morning of his birthday!
He was a little weirded out by the paparazzi
but then welcomed being 5!
First thing he wanted to do was wake up Tyler to show him all the balloons.
The fairy did nominal decorations downstairs as well.
He loved the book from Mimi
He liked blowing out the candles, but the cinnamon rolls were way too sweet for his liking. Don't worry, Tyler had 3!
Obviously, batman socks were a hit!
His sweet friends welcomed him with Birthday hugs.
Sawyer brought batman cookies and batman masks to all of his friends to celebrate at school.
Then we went to dinner for his b-day. Johnny flew in and Pete joined us. I'd say it was pretty good day.
I was looking back at last years post... His personality has not changed much. This is what I wrote last year
4 things about Sawyer's personality at age 4:
1) he aims to please
2) he craves attention but needs his alone time
3) he is very exciteable and never tires
4) he has a high emotional intelligence and not much gets past him.
I would add that Sawyer is always looking for FUN. He does not necessarily want down time, but really likes to have a full plate of excitement. His emotional intelligence still seems beyond his years. He is LOUD, active, tender, engaged, smart, loving, snuggly, interested and creative. He is always making a plan with the next cool idea we can do or thinking of the next story he can tell. His brain literally does not shut off.
Sawyer weighs around 43 lb (not sure on height - well check next week)

- no longer naps (break my heart)
- not a picky eater, but not a big eater
- Sleeps 9-11 hours a night.
- loves all things super hero
- likes baseball and soccer
- likes to make up his own sport games
- likes board games, cars, trucks, and legos
- does very well in school - reports to me when kids don't know how to add, rhyme, etc.
- likes to learn
- has a memory like an elephant
- soaks in absolutely everything you tell him
- loves baths and showers
- dresses himself
- can write anything you spell for him and is learning some sight words
- can add small numbers
- makes friends EVERYWHERE he goes
- still thinks his little brother is the best
- loves to play rough with Daddy
- and thankfully still snuggles with Mommy!

I told Sawyer the top five reasons I love him on his 5th birthday. The number one reason being that he made me a Mommy. To that he responded, "Umm, what were you before?!" Good question sweet boy! Love him!
